This artwork interprets the idea of “home” as nostalgia — a longing for moments that have passed. It invites viewers to travel back to my childhood and the early 2000s, a time when I first met Clippy, the intelligent assistant in Microsoft Office, personified as a paperclip.

For me, Clippy was not just an on-screen helper, but a companion who was there during the moments I was learning to use my very first home computer. At the heart of this work is the character “Nostalgia Surfer,” a lifeform inspired by the scientific theory known as String Theory, which proposes that beings existing in the fifth dimension or higher can travel through time. He is a fifth-dimensional being addicted to the feeling of nostalgia, choosing to journey back not to alter the past, but to fully absorb the atmosphere and emotions of those moments.

This time, he returns to the day that computer was first switched on, to reunite with Clippy — like an old friend he hasn’t seen in years. The scene captures this quiet yet profound reunion, bathed in neon light and wrapped in the warm, wistful air of a night filled with memories.
